• Dear residents,

We are delighted to announce that by working together the Longham Village Residents Association and Cllr Hannah Hobbs-Chell can share the following update from Bournemouth Water regarding the Longham Bridge overland pipe.

Bournemouth Water would like to thank the Longham Village Resident’s Association for inviting us to their meeting on 23 September 2025 to update the residents of our proposed works. We found the meeting helpful and informative, and we hope the residents also did.

I can inform you that Bournemouth Water has now concluded the options appraisal works and a provisional programme has been presented that would result in the removal of the temporary overland pipe by Spring 2026 – this programme is now being refined.

The highways notices associated with these works are being requested. Any notice will need to be agreed /approved by the Highways Agency which in this case is Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Unitary Authority who we are liaising with on a regular basis.”

This is great news, and we are grateful for Bournemouth Water’s updates and progress on this longstanding issue.

    Regards

Secretary – On Behalf of the LVRA Committee

  • As this is our first Christmas running the LVRA we wanted to support a local charity Ferndown Community Support www.ferndowncommunitysupport.org.uk with their mission to raise funds to provide Santa Sacks for local children and young people in need. These families have been identified by their school and or social services and are in poverty or emotional need including Hampreston First School and FUS.

Each donation goes directly to creating a festive gift package tailored for children and young people aged 3 to 18. Each ‘Santa Sack’ costs approximately £25 to fill with brand-new, carefully wrapped and chosen items that bring both joy and comfort and the goal is to fund 150 containing items such as:

    • Toys, games, and books, stationery and crafting supplies, hat and scarf set for warmth, sweets, hot chocolate, and marshmallows for cozy treats, essential toiletries (all wrapped with care, even down to the toothpaste!) Cinema voucher for teenagers to enjoy a special experience.

Donating is easy, you can simply scan the QR code below to take you to the Santa Sacks web page and make a secure card payment, or you can go direct to  www.ferndowncommunitysupport.org.uk.

They are also holding a Christmas Fayre on the 22nd November at the Ferndown Community Centre. If anyone is able to help with secondhand donations for the teddy tombola to help raise funds I will gladly collect. The Santa Sacks elves are also in need of Pringles and packs of mini marshmallows should you wish to donate items rather than funds – I am happy to collect any of the above just email me secretary@lvra.uk or mobile 07889 338707. Thank you for your support and please do share this with any family and friends who you think may also wish to get involved ❤️
